ABOUT US
Introduction
Technology in the service of humanity.
Digital technology is improving multiple aspects of people's lives. However, it is also introducing issues for individuals and societies, creating new imbalances and eroding overall trust.
Digital Civilization Conference (DCC) exists to facilitate solutions to the most pressing challenges brought about by technology towards a more balanced future.
Brand Story
The DCC brand combines circles with squares to represent a variety of meanings.
Firstly, the circle represents the atom, one of the smallest unit that makes up the physical world, while the square represents the bit, the smallest unit of information that makes up the digital world, suggesting a blending of the physical and digital worlds.
MANIFESTO
DIGITAL CIVILISATION: A MANIFESTO
from Prof. Bill Roscoe, University of Oxford, UK
Digital technology is advancing at a fantastic, some would say alarming, rate. It is taking over so much of how we interact with the world and each other. However, it more reflects commercial opportunities and disconnected attempts to streamline government services than a proper digital civilisation. It offers the chance for a smoother and easier life while threatening a loss of personal privacy. We believe that society should develop ways of making all this technology more cohesive, more ethical and more respectful of the individual. We think that society should come together and organise the rules by which it expects technology to play, and the technological tools to allow a cohesive digital civilisation to grow.
